Feature 01
Production stays safe.
Tag each connection development, staging or production. On production, a DROP, a TRUNCATE, or a DELETE or UPDATE without WHERE runs only after you type the word, with the planner's row estimate where the database gives one.
Feature 02
Edit data, see the SQL first.
Change rows and schema in the grid, preview the exact SQL, and apply it in one transaction. Rows are editable only when they can be identified uniquely, and results stream in pages.
Feature 03
A CLI and an MCP server, built in.
The oxid-db command line adds exports, CSV import, saved queries, EXPLAIN, ER diagrams and SSH tunnels. The MCP server lets your coding agent query the connections you choose: read-only by default, never writable on production.

Files as tables
Open a Parquet, CSV or JSON file as a connection and query it in SQL.
Exact values
NULL, empty text and exact numerics stay distinct and complete, in the grid and in exports.
Secrets in the Keychain
Connection files carry no passwords, and the app sends no usage statistics.
System Requirements
macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple silicon or Intel.
Frequently asked
Got questions?
Which databases does OxidDB support?
PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite and DuckDB. MariaDB works through the MySQL driver.
What does the production guard do?
On a connection tagged production, a DROP, a TRUNCATE, or a DELETE or UPDATE with no WHERE clause runs only after you type the word. PostgreSQL, MySQL and DuckDB show the planner's row estimate; OxidDB never counts the rows itself.
Can my coding agent use it?
Yes. The MCP server lets Claude Code and other agents query the connections you opt in: read-only unless you allow writes, and never writable on production.
Does it send my data anywhere?
No. Connections and history stay on your Mac, and passwords stay in the Keychain. The app contacts oxidapps.com only to check your licence and for updates.
Is it a subscription?
No. OxidDB is $49 once, for one Mac, after a 7-day trial with every feature unlocked.
