How we handle your data.

Overview

Oxid Apps ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it across all our macOS applications and this website.

Data we collect

License activation

When you activate a license, we store your license key, a device identifier (a hash of your hardware — we cannot reverse this to identify your machine), and the product activated. This is necessary to enforce per-device licensing.

Crash and failure reports

If an app crashes, it may send an anonymous crash report containing the error message, stack trace, app version, and OS version. No personal data is included.

An app may also report a failure that is not a crash — for example, when OxidVM's Docker machine does not finish starting. These reports describe the failure and nothing else: which step gave up, whether it was the first attempt, how long the app waited, and which of a fixed list of known setup milestones the machine reached. They also carry the app version and build, your macOS version, your Mac's processor architecture, and the hashed device identifier described above.

We never upload your logs, your app's console output, or file paths. Diagnostic files stay on your Mac. Where an app reads one to work out what failed, only the fixed set of facts above is sent — never the file, and never any text taken from it. If you want to send us more than that, you can attach a diagnostic bundle to a support request yourself.

Where an app offers this control, you can turn crash and failure reporting off in its settings — in OxidVM under Settings → Diagnostics, and in Oxid Mac Cleaner and Oxid Capture Studio under their own Settings. We are adding the same control to the apps that do not have it yet.

Anonymous usage analytics

We may collect anonymous usage events (e.g., "app opened") to understand which features are used. These contain no personal information and are tied only to the hashed device identifier.

Payment information

Payments are processed by our payment provider, currently Lemon Squeezy, who acts as merchant of record. We do not store your credit card details, billing address, or payment credentials — the provider's privacy policy governs that data. We keep only your email address, the items purchased, and the order total, so we can issue your licence key and show you your order history.

Data we do not collect

  • Your files or content created in our apps
  • Your application logs, console output, or any file path from your Mac
  • Browsing history or activity outside our apps
  • Contact lists, photos, or other personal data
  • Location data

How we use data

  • License data: to verify your purchase and prevent unauthorized use
  • Crash reports: to fix bugs and improve stability
  • Analytics: to prioritize features and improve the user experience

Storage & security

Data is stored on secured servers. Device identifiers are one-way hashes and cannot be reversed. We retain crash reports for 90 days and analytics data for 12 months.

Third parties

We do not sell, share, or trade your data with third parties. The only external service with access to your payment information is our payment provider, currently Lemon Squeezy.

Your rights

You may request deletion of any data we hold about you by contacting us at support@oxidapps.com.

Changes

We may update this policy. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
