Questions
Can it show my Wi‑Fi signal strength?
No. iOS doesn’t let any app read Wi‑Fi signal strength or nearby networks, so Oxid Network doesn’t claim to. It tests what your connection actually does: your router, your DNS, the internet and IPv6.
What leaves my iPhone?
Only the requests a test needs: to the hosts you test, to public DNS resolvers (Cloudflare, Google, Quad9), to OpenDNS and Google to find your public address, to the internet registries for WHOIS and RDAP, to Team Cymru’s DNS service for the network behind an address, and to Cloudflare’s speed-test server when you run a speed test. There is no Oxid server and no analytics.
Why does it ask for Local Network access?
iOS asks before any app talks to devices on your network. Without it, Oxid Network can still test the internet, and it tells you which checks it couldn’t run instead of blaming your router.
