What the app reads
Your device's network settings (its addresses, router and DNS servers, and whether it is on Wi‑Fi, cellular or a VPN), and — only if you allow Local Network access — the devices on your local network that answer its scans and discovery requests. It never reads the Wi‑Fi network's name and never asks for your location.
Where it runs
On your device. Results, your history, device names you give and your saved devices stay on it. There is no Oxid account or server. The app contains no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
What leaves your device
Only the requests a test needs, sent when you run it:
- The hosts and websites you test, and the devices on your local network when you scan it.
- DNS: your network's DNS server and the public resolvers of Cloudflare, Google and Quad9, to check that names resolve and how fast.
- Your public address: DNS lookups to OpenDNS, then Google, which answer with the address they see.
- Who owns an address or domain: the internet registries' RDAP and WHOIS services, and Team Cymru's DNS service for the network (AS) behind an address.
- Speed test: Cloudflare's public speed-test server, only when you tap Start.
These services see your public IP address, as with any internet request. Oxid Network sends them nothing else about you.
Purchases
Buying Pro goes through the App Store. Apple handles payment; the app only checks, on your device, whether Pro is unlocked.
