Privacy · Oxid Photos for iPhone & iPad

Your photos never leave your device.

Last updated · October 16, 2026

Oxid Photos is not released yet. This policy describes version 1.1.0 as built, which includes the former Oxid Metadata app as its Privacy tab, and will be updated if anything changes.

Your photos

With your permission, the app reads your photo library to show what takes up space and to find duplicates, similar shots, screenshots and large videos. The photo tools (compress, resize, convert, remove metadata) work on photos you pick, and can do so without access to your whole library. All of this — the analysis, the comparisons and every new file — happens on your device. Your photos, and anything learned from them, are never uploaded, never sent to us and never shared with anyone. There is no Oxid account or server.

The app saves the copies you make to your library or to Files, and deletes photos only after you confirm in iOS's own dialog. It doesn't ask for your contacts or your location.

The Privacy tab and maps

The Privacy tab reads the hidden details stored in a photo (such as where it was taken and the device that took it) on your device, and writes cleaned copies on your device. When a photo has a location, the map you see is drawn with Apple Maps, so Apple receives the map area being shown, as with any app that shows a map. A street address is looked up from Apple Maps only if you tap “Look up address”. The Library Privacy Scan and any place it works out (for example where many photos were taken at night) are computed and kept on your device only.

No ads, no tracking, no data collected

This version shows no ads, in the free version or with Pro. The app contains Google's Mobile Ads SDK for a possible later version, but this version never starts it: it makes no ad requests, shows no consent form and collects nothing. The app has no analytics, doesn't ask for permission to track you (Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt), and doesn't track you.

We collect no data from the app. If a later version adds ads, this policy will be updated first, to say exactly what the ad SDK collects and what choices you have.

Purchases

Buying Pro goes through the App Store. Apple handles payment; the app only checks, on your device, whether Pro is unlocked.

Children

The app is not made for children and is not in the App Store's Kids category.
